Eni agreement in Rwanda for projects of circular economy agriculture

(Finance) – Eni and the government of Rwanda they signed a memorandum of understanding to identify joint opportunities in the areas of circular economy, agriculture, forestry, innovation and digital information technology.

The parties will evaluate the feasibility of projects of circular economy through the collection and valorisation of cooking oils and waste oils. Another area of ​​interest is agriculture, with reference to bio-feedstock production and their transformation into decarbonised products. The memorandum also includes initiatives aimed at forest conservation and the generation of carbon credits through a range of activities such as reduction of CO2 emissions from the wood-fuel value chain and other activities.

Finally, the areas of cooperation include innovation and digital information technology addressed to the circular economy, agriculture, forestry, off-grid energy and other business areas, such as sustainability, health, safety and the environment.

The memorandum is in line with Rwanda’s goal of promoting economic development by allowing the growth of the private sector and with Eni’s commitment to increase energy efficiency in African countries, leveraging agro-industrial projects in a sustainable context. .
