Engines revving for Ride To Thrive

Organizers are hoping for a good turnout for this weekend’s Ride to Thrive Motorcycle Ride.

“It’s always a fun event and we generally attract anywhere from 30 to 50 riders,” Doug Hunt, of Participation Support Services, said. “We’ve got great sponsors and a great route and we’re looking forward to seeing lots of riders.”

Sponsored by the Brantford Lions Club, the Ride To Thrive raises money, between $5,000 and $7,000, in support of Participation Support Services and the Canadian Mental Health Association Brant Haldimand Norfolk. Proceeds are split between the two agencies.

Participation Support Services provides a range of supports, including housing to adults with physical disabilities and complex needs to help them live as independently as possible. CMHA, meanwhile, provides supports including counseling and housing for people of all ages who are battling mental health issues.

Registration is at Starbucks at 320 Colborne Street West at 9 am Saturday and the ride starts at 10 am Riders can register online at www.eventbrite.ca/ and search for Ride To Thrive Motorcycle Ride or register on the day of the event.

Riders will take a back road route that will take them to: Brantford Motorcycles on Colborne Street West, Brantford; Dualsport Plus on West Street, Brantford; The Power Garage in Woodstock; 2ND Gear in Ayr; and Davidson’s Sport in Norwich.

The ride concludes at the Brant Naval Veterans Association hall on Wadsworth Street where prizes will be handed out.
