Energy saving: 73% of Italians have little awareness of energy consumption

Energy saving 73 of Italians have little awareness of energy

(Finance) – On the occasion of Change Light Dayday dedicated to changing light bulbs to promote sustainable choices, Pulsee Electricity and Gascompany of Axpo Italyrecalled the importance of replacing old incandescent or halogen light bulbs with LED ones, a simple gesture that can significantly reduce bill costs and improve environmental impact.

Change five light bulbs traditional with LED equivalents can result in a savings of approximately 10% on energy consumptionestimated at approximately 43 kWh per year. At the same light intensity, incandescent bulbs consume over five times more than LED bulbs. This translates into significantly lower costs: a 20-24W LED bulb costs around 0.2 cents per hour, compared to 1.4 cents for a 120W incandescent bulb. If a light bulb remained on all day, the daily cost with an incandescent light bulb would be 3.36 euros, while with an LED one it would be reduced to just 0.48 euros. In other words, savings can reach up to 80-90%.

In addition to the economic advantages, LED bulbs reduce environmental impact, thanks to the absence of harmful materials and greater ease of disposal.

Although most Italians have little awareness of their energy consumption – as highlighted by NielsenIQ research, according to which 73% of those interviewed do not know their electricity consumption — 74% of those interviewed said they wanted to reduce them. To respond to this need, Pulsee has developed tools such as the Energipedia, a free downloadable guide that helps you understand and manage energy consumption, and the Energimeter, available in the Pulsee Play app, which allows you to monitor the consumption of household appliances in real time and provides suggestions for reducing waste.

From the beginning of 2024, theEnergy meter it has already involved 20% of customers, helping many families to make their consumption more efficient and sustainable.
