These are the numbers presented by the President of Arera, Stephen Besseghini, in a hearing with the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on Consumer Protection, underlining that these increases are “even more significant when evaluated with respect to the levels of the corresponding quarter of last year”. In fact, as regards theelectric energythe reference price for the typical customer “went from 20.06 euro cents per kWh” in the first quarter of 2021 “to 46.03 euro cents per kWh” in the first quarter of 2022 and, for gas natural“from 70.66 euro cents per cubic meter to 137.32 euro cents”.
This year, said Bessegini, theRegulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment “will implement” the law that has left the deadline of 1 January 2023 unchanged for the removal of the higher protection service for micro-enterprises, while, for “domestic electricity customers, it has introduced a gradual exceeding the price protection, which will end by January 2024 “.” This allows for the implementation of measures prodromal and instrumental to carry out this process in the best possible way, depending both on the size of the final domestic customers still served in protection (to date about 12 million) and on the current market structure, characterized by a still particularly high level of concentration ” , added the President of Arera.
