Enel is one of the partners of Climate Week, the main global climate event, which has reached its 14th edition this year. Established by The Climate Group, the initiative promotes greater commitment to the environment by implementing the necessary measures to tackle climate change.
On September 19th, Francesco Starace, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Enel, met with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, together with other CEOs of the United Nations Global Compact. On the same day, she participated in a panel on the Just Energy Transition in Africa as part of the United Nations Global Compact’s Global Africa Business Initiative event. Starace also took part in the Private Sector Forum (PSF), the meeting that brings together the CEOs of UNGC companies capable of playing a central role together with representatives of governments and UN agencies, participating in a panel on the necessary funding and investments. to promote renewable energy and sustainable development.
Francesco Starace is also President of SEforALL (Sustainable Energy for All), the international initiative that actively operates during the week of the United Nations General Assembly, with the aim of intensifying the commitment to electrification, guaranteeing universal access to reliable, modern and economical energy services and thus achieve the seventh of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Enel Group was also represented by CFO Alberto De Paoli, who took part in the SDG Investment Forum of the United Nations Global Compact, where CFOs, sustainability experts and investors discuss the ways in which corporate investments and finance can contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s event also saw the participation of Enel’s General Counsel Giulio Fazio, who on September 19 inaugurated the Legal Hour of the PSF, dedicated to the new initiative of the United Nations Global Compact on Transformational Governance, aimed at expanding the role of legal professionals for the integration of sustainability in business decisions and that Enel will lead as Patron.
