End of late summer – now the rain is coming

Summer came late – but now it’s over.
The new week brings rain and cooler weather.
– In general, you can say that there will be a ten degree drop in the whole country when it comes to temperatures, says TV4 Nyhetern’s meteorologist Madeleine Westin.

The weekend offered bright sunshine and warm weather throughout the country. In several places, new heat records have been broken, including in Karlshamn.

– Karlshamn had 27.1 degrees during the afternoon. We have never had such a high temperature during the month of September since measurements began in 1859, says TV4 Nyheternas meteorologist Madeleine Westin.

“The high-pressure ridge sings on the last verse”

During Monday, the heat is expected to persist.

– In many places, Götaland, Svealand and up along the Norrland coast, it will be a new day with 20-25 degrees, maybe slightly higher in some places, says Madeleine Westin.

But after a summery start to the month of September, autumn weather is now expected to make a comeback.

– The high pressure ridge starts to sing on the last verse, says the meteorologist.

“A lot of rain”

As of Tuesday, there is an imminent risk of large amounts of rain in southern Sweden.

– There may be a lot of rain already from Tuesday evening in Halland. The rain then moves towards the Baltic Sea and up towards the Mälardalen. Here we are talking about the possibility of between 30 and 50 millimeters of rain, and that is an awful lot, she says.

And as if rain wasn’t enough, temperatures are also expected to drop in the middle of the week.

– In general, you can say that there will be a ten degree drop across the country when it comes to temperatures towards Thursday and Friday, says Madeleine Westin.

– More normal autumn weather is underway.
