End of free hospital parking: ‘Very unfortunate’

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Staff at the hospitals in the Stockholm region did not have to pay for parking during the pandemic. But after the turn of the year, the free parking will come to an end – even though the health care situation in the region remains strained.

– It is unfortunate timing, especially when you see now that the infection is spreading. It is both covid, RS virus and winter sickness. It’s very unfortunate that it’s happening right now, says Emma Jonsson, chairperson of the Vårdförbundet in Stockholm.

In addition to the fact that the staff at the hospitals can no longer park for free, there is also a shock increase in the price. Previously, for example, you could park at Huddinge Hospital for SEK 125 a month, but after the turn of the year the price is SEK 5 an hour.

– I would like to see this decision postponed until we have more control over the spread of infection. Right now, all our members who can get to work need to be there, it’s incredibly hard pressed, says Jonsson.
