Thomas Bach, who had been re-elected in March 2021 almost unanimously until 2025 has been bowing. The original Bavarians had succeeded Jacques Rogge at the head of an International Olympic Committee (CIO) in 2013. The body elects his successor during his 143rd session, in Athens, this Thursday, March 20, 2025. Thomas Bach will remain in office until June before handing over.
