Members of Unifor Local 999 have a new contract with Enbridge Gas, ending a strike that began three weeks ago.

The union served notice to the company Monday that an attempted agreement, reached on Friday, had been ratified, Enbridge spokesperson Andrea Stass said in a media release.

“Unionized employees are valued members of our workforce and the successful outcome of these negotiations reflects our common goal of a workplace that is safe, stable, and grounded in our core company of integrity and respect,” Stass said in the release.

More than 100 members of Unifor Local 999 who work at the storage, transmission and operations at Enbridge Gas facilities went on strike on May 25.

No details of the agreement were available. The Chatham Daily News is trying to reach the union for comment.

A picket line was set up in front of the Enbridge Gas Dawn Hub, one of the largest integrated natural gas storage facilities in North America, for the first time in 48 years.
