Enac hosts the EATEO seminar on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity

(Finance) – “Artificial intelligence and cybersecurity as new challenges for aviation: the role of training” is the theme of seminar organized at the Enac headquarters by the European Association of Aviation Training and Education Organizations – EATEO, a European organization of which the Director General of Enac, Alessio Quaranta, has been President since 2017. EATEO deals with aeronautical training for all components of the aviation system, including regulators, airlines, airports, air navigation service providers, trade associations, universities, research centres.

The seminar, organized in collaboration with Flight Safety Foundation-Mediterranean FSF-MED, another organization that operates in the aeronautical training sector, saw thewith the participation of over 80 delegates from national and international organizations and operators in the sector. The aim of the meeting is to draw attention and discuss the issuesemi of cyber security and artificial intelligenceto increase on the one hand the knowledge and awareness of the threat deriving from cyber crime in the aeronautical sector, and on the other the opportunities and challenges represented by the innovative interactions between man and machine.

The works were opened by the intervention of EATEO President Alessio Quaranta who highlighted “We felt the need to organize this seminar to share a common European strategy: the training of personnel in the sector must be adequate and with high professional skills that can prevent and protect safety, both safety and security, and the safety from IT interference that would expose the sector to crisis situations. The other topic covered by the meeting, artificial intelligence, also represents a challenge for all of us, but also an opportunity that must be addressed with training courses harmonized at an international level, by virtue of the intrinsic nature of air transport which goes beyond borders”.
