A trial. Three women are accused of murder and practicing “barbaric rites” but for lack of bodies, judges, lawyers and witnesses are fighting over what makes tradition and modernity in their culture. During the testimonies, “disciples” of the three defendants argue over the disappearance of the Umuganuro festival in 1932, a sort of national festival whose spiritual form disturbed the religious trend that was about to be announced.
The play, created as part of the 5th edition of the Buja Sans Tabou festival, takes place in 2022, in a court sometimes erected in a wooded setting, sometimes jostled by autocratic institutions, confrontations of ideas and manipulation of the semantics.
