The District Court has lifted arrest warrants for three of the seven people charged with the murder at the Emporia shopping center in Malmö in August 2022, Sydsvenskan reports.
The decision concerns a 21-year-old man who has been charged with incitement to murder and two men, aged 26 and 30, who have been charged with aiding and abetting murder. The other four are still in custody.
According to Sydsvenskan, it is likely that the three will thus be acquitted. An analysis shared by the 21-year-old’s lawyer Carl-Oskar Morgården.
– The prosecutor asked for life imprisonment. They would never let him go if he were to be convicted of anything in this case, says Morgården to the newspaper.
The three men will, despite the decision, end up in prison. All have had time to be sentenced for other crimes during the time they were in custody.
The district court’s verdict in the case is to be announced on March 15.
