Employee of the Moderates shot in Brussels

One of the Moderates’ employees has been injured in a shooting in Brussels.

“Terrible. The person in question is receiving treatment right now, the situation is not considered to be critical,” he writes in the post.

Four people are said to have been injured in a shooting in the Belgian capital Brussels. One of those hit is described as having life-threatening injuries.

According to the Belgian newspaper Soiree the police rule out acts of terrorism.

– We received a report of a shooting that occurred on Avenue de la Toison d’or at 7:30 p.m., says spokesperson Ilse Van de Keere.

According to Ixelles’ mayor Christos Doulkeridis, connections to gang crime are being investigated instead.

“Getting treatment right now”

The Swedish EU parliamentarian Tomas Tobé writes that one of the injured is an employee of his.

“Terrible. The person in question is currently receiving treatment, the situation is not considered to be critical. Relatives of the person have been informed”.

Furthermore, he writes that Belgian police are now working to get more information about what happened.

A witness to the incident told Le Soir that a man armed with a gun fired several shots.

– He shot several times and panic broke out. I saw an injured woman run away before I called the police, he says.
