Ikea Industry in Älmhult has to pay a company fine of SEK 300,000 after a workplace accident, local media reports.

In February this year, an employee got his hand stuck in a grinder. The accident resulted in the employee receiving permanent pain.

According to the prosecutor, the person who was responsible for the work environment had not sufficiently assessed the risk of the work phase. Among other things, there was no protection to stop workers from coming into contact with the moving parts of the machine.

The machine’s emergency stop function had also not been fully checked.
