An employee in Eskilstuna suffered caustic damage to his face and eye during a working day in 2020. The employee was supposed to fix a blockage in a hose when fumes of hydrofluoric acid spread.
The employee did not have adequate protective equipment
The hose was not double jacketed and the worker did not have adequate protective equipment.
According to the sentencing report, which News24 taken note of, the trader shall not have done what could reasonably be required to prevent the crime.
The company may be fined SEK 200,000
Now the sentencing order has assessed the incident as causing bodily harm. Therefore, the company Outukumpu Stainless must pay SEK 200,000 in corporate fines for work environment violations.
