Employee drove the Armed Forces vehicle for four years without

A long-time employee of the Swedish Armed Forces’ air fleet, F 17 outside Ronneby, continued to drive the defense vehicle for over four years after losing his driver’s license.

When the matter was revealed in the fall of 2023, the man had to stay at home and was threatened with dismissal.

Found out when he was going to renew his driver’s license

The lack of a driver’s license came to light when the civilian employee was asked to show it to renew his military driver’s license. He was then also reported to the police.

The Swedish Armed Forces’ personnel responsibility board writes in its home address, which News24 learned that after the incident there is a lack of trust in the employee, which was the basis for a possible dismissal.

“NN has been employed by FM for a long time and is well aware of its rules and regulations. NN has admitted that, since 2019, he lacks a driver’s license, but this only when the employer confronted him with this information and directed him to work at home. The employer lacks trust because NN wants NN to be separated from his employment in FM”.

Now the Swedish Armed Forces’ personnel responsibility board notes that he instead resigned himself before Christmas. During the time without a driver’s license, the man is said to have driven both on and off the unit area.
