In November last year, the female client deviated from an open ward at the LVM home where she was cared for. The male employee went out to look for her and soon found the woman and her boyfriend inside the community.
However, the client did not want to come back with her, instead she ran away from the employee together with her boyfriend. When he caught up with the couple, some sort of commotion ensued. According to the employee, he was hit by the client and then tried to create distance from her by pushing her away with his foot. According to the client, the employee behaved violently and kicked her in the stomach.
Wants to have the case tried in court
The institution itself has carried out an investigation, but the head of the LVM home has reported the incident to the Norwegian Institute Board’s personnel responsibility committee to get an assessment as “it is word for word” what may have happened.
But they note that it is clear that some kind of kick was handed out and that the employee had no right to use force to bring the client back to the LVM home. Now the personnel responsibility board reports the employee to the police, so that the court can assess whether he can claim emergency protection in the current situation.
– We have no opinion on this, but we have chosen to hand over the material to the personnel responsibility committee so that they can make an assessment based on their knowledge. Then I trust them to make a good decision, says LVM manager Anna Danielsson.
The employee is still employed but in a different position.
