Emotional when the trial about the murder of a 15-year-old in Alingsås began

Many relatives of the deceased 15-year-old were present when the trial’s first day of three began. Early in the hearing, it was decided that the rest of the trial would be held behind closed doors due to the defendant’s young age.

– You want him to be seen and be behind open doors, I think. He must answer for what he has done, says Rebecka Bergenheim, a relative of the victim.

  • This is how the murder happened according to prosecutors

In the early evening of October 2, the victim and the 16-year-old suspect are said to have met. The suspect admits that he met the victim and that he did so because he wanted to confront him about things that happened and were said.

After that, the suspect must have pulled a knife and he admits that he used some violence but claims that it happened in emergency defense and that there was no intent to kill. He thus denies any crime.

The prosecutor believes that the 16-year-old killed the victim with 140 stab and cut wounds.

It is suspected that the body was moved to Säveån

Part of the indictment relates to grave breach of privacy and is about the 16-year-old being suspected of having moved the body sometime between October 2 and 5 in order to remove evidence. According to prosecutors, the 16-year-old burned clothing to remove evidence and moved the body to Säveån, where it was later found.

The suspect denies any crime and believes that the victim himself jumped into the river and that he was still alive when the 16-year-old left the scene.

    May have mental disorder

As evidence, prosecutors will use, among other things, DNA analyses, mobile phone data, texts from the suspect’s 16-year-old’s diary and findings from the scene.

According to a forensic psychiatric examination, there is a suspicion that the 16-year-old suffered from a serious mental disorder both at the time of the crime and at the time of the examination. Göteborgs-Posten has it previously reported on.
