21-year-old Norwegian youngest to the South Pole
The 21-year-old Norwegian Karen Kyllesø has reached the South Pole after 54 days and 1,130 kilometers alone on skis. She is thus the youngest so far to get there and beats 27-year-old Matthieu Tordeur’s performance.
That she has arrived is confirmed to the Norwegian media by father Håkon Kyllesø and mentor Lars Ebbesen. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre speaks of national achievement.

A suspiciously dangerous object was found between two residential buildings in the Stenkulla area of Nyköping late on Monday evening. The police have a large operation at the scene and residents of a nearby building have been evacuated.
– We received an alert about a suspected dangerous object at 10:38 p.m. and then the National Bomb Squad was called to the scene and they have been working there during the night, says Camilla Larsson, officer on duty at police region East.
At 02:00 the police operation was still ongoing in the area and technicians are on site to take over when the area is secured.
– Unfortunately, I can’t say much more, says Camilla Larsson.
The police have started a preliminary investigation regarding attempts at public destruction.

A man in his 40s has been hit in Gullviksborg in Malmö.
The incident is being investigated as serious assault, the police say.
The man is taken to hospital by ambulance.
According to the caller, the accident must have occurred after cars chased each other, reports South Sweden.
– They may have chased each other in cars, hence the crashed cars, says police spokesperson Evelina Olsson.
After the car chase, a person allegedly assaulted the man, who is in his 40s.
– We believe that there is a connection with a previous collision in the local area, because it seems to be the same parties, says Evelina Olsson to the newspaper.
The police suspect that the same person who ran over the man also assaulted the man.
No one is currently in custody.

Over 100 gold seekers dead in illegal mining
At least 100 gold prospectors have died in an abandoned gold mine in South Africa, where they were trapped for months after mining gold illegally. This was stated on Friday by an organization representing the illegal miners.
The gold diggers have been trapped in the mine for months since police tried to evict them from the mine shaft last November.
