Emmy in Karlshamn asked the government for help with mosquitoes

Eleven-year-old Emmy Andersson from Karlshamn in Blekinge has had enough of itchy mosquito bites. In a letter to Ulf Kristersson, she pleads for help – now the Prime Minister has responded.
“There are many of us who get annoyed when mosquitoes bite us or buzz in the bedroom when we go to bed,” writes the prime minister in a letter.

In July, Emmy Andersson, 11, sent a letter to the government office in which she told about a problem that she hoped the Swedish government could solve for her.

“I understand you are busy with crime and inflation,” she begins the letter before getting to the main point – itchy mosquito bites.

– I was just very annoyed by the mosquitoes and the mosquito bites itched a lot, says the mosquito-bitten main character herself, about how she got the idea to write to the prime minister.

“It itches so damn much so it would have been great if you could have eradicated all the mosquitoes,” she writes in the letter and believes that Ulf Kristersson can count on a vote in the election in 2034 if he fixes the mosquito situation.

The Prime Minister’s response – advice on mosquito traps

Last Tuesday was the opening of the National Assembly and Ulf Kristersson must have a lot on his table this year. One of these things turns out to be answering the eleven-year-old resident of Karlshamn.

“I agree with you that mosquito bites are not fun to get,” he writes and explains that the government gives money to municipalities with major mosquito problems, which are earmarked to fight the mosquitoes. Emmy says that she is satisfied with the prime minister’s answer.

– It felt quite good, and fun, says Emmy about getting answers to her problems.

On the other hand, she is less satisfied with the head of government’s tip about using a mosquito trap.

– I’ve tried but it’s not going very well, she says about the mosquito trap as a tool to get rid of mosquitoes.

Mother Rebecca points out that Emmy is actually a big animal lover, but that the mosquito in particular has caused bad blood.

Emmy herself does not think that it was the last time she hears from the prime minister about things she is dissatisfied with, rather she seems to have had a bloody tooth. It remains to be seen whether the Prime Minister will get any votes from Karlshamnstjejen in the 2034 election.
