MACRON. In his wishes, Emmanuel Macron wished that 2022, “decisive year” also be “the year of exit from the epidemic”, while France records a record of Covid-19 contaminations. The President said he was “resolutely optimistic” on the economy before discussing his results and the coming year.
[Mis à jour le 01 janvier 2022, à 12h25] Emmanuel Macron presented his end-of-year wishes to the French on December 31. The moment was particularly awaited in view of the health crisis which continues to worsen in recent days in France but also with the approach of the 2022 presidential election. If he recognizes that the coming weeks to come will be difficult because of the coronavirus and more particularly with the Omicron variant, now the majority in France, he “wants to believe” that 2022 will be “the year of exit from the pandemic”.
“The coming weeks will be difficult, we all know that”. It is with this sentence that Emmanuel Macron began his speech. The president returned to the beginning of his speech on the epidemic situation in France with a thought to the “123,000 compatriots who were killed by the virus”.
However, he wants to be “resolutely optimistic” about the challenges to come this year, in particular with vaccines. “We have for us the weapon of the vaccine (…) and therefore real reasons for hope. (…) This is why once again, I appeal to the five million non- vaccinated: make this simple gesture “before adding that” 2022 may be the year of the end of the epidemic “.
The economy in 2022 has featured prominently in the discourse. The Head of State thus assured that “the reindustrialization of our country is indeed a reality”. Adding that “France, despite the hardships, is therefore stronger than two years ago”.
The 2022 presidential election was also discussed. The government had already ensured the continuation of the elections scheduled for April 10 and 24. Emmanuel Macron once again assured that “despite the pandemic, these essential polls will have to be held in the best possible conditions” and draws “major choices for our nation”. Without really announcing a possible candidacy, Emmanuel Macron positioned himself on his future activities for France. “Whatever my place and the circumstances, I will continue to serve you”.
Emmanuel Macron’s previous speeches
Emmanuel Macron gave an interview to TF1 and LCI, broadcast Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Recorded beforehand (the previous Sunday), the interview lasted two hours, during which the President of the Republic had to answer a question: “where is France going? “. Faced with Audrey Crespo-Mara and Darius Rochebin, the Head of State spoke of a large panel of his five-year term, between the actions carried out, the crises crossed, but also drew the contours of his vision of the country for after 2022. However, the tenant of the Elysee has not declared his candidacy for the presidential election. But “we do not transform a country in five years,” he said.
The possible candidate for his succession has also admitted that some of his little phrases distilled throughout the mandate were not to everyone’s taste. “At the time, I think that with some of my words I hurt people and I think we can move things without hurting people. And that’s what I will not do again”, a- he asserted. A mea-culpa to which has been added a love address to the French. “Sometimes I was tough, I was brash. I learned to love better, to have more indulgence, kindness,” he said.
While he indicated that he was not “in the position to answer” the question of an application in April 2022, while everything seems to be in working order at LREM, Emmanuel Macron “must[t] still assume the responsibility that is mine. […] I know one thing, it is that if I were today a candidate like the others, I could not make decisions which I have to take there, now, taking into account the health situation “.
Emmanuel Macron wanted to address the French on Tuesday, as he had committed, to take stock of the health situation. He therefore praised in his speech the efforts of all, warned against the start of the 5th wave of Covid in Europe, with a strong and concrete measure: those over 65 must be administered a 3rd dose of vaccine to save their health pass.
On the Covid, Emmanuel Macron confirmed that the 3rd dose of vaccine will be necessary for the extension of the health pass in people over 65 and people with comorbidities after December 15. The Head of State also announced a recall campaign in December for 50-64 year olds. “We are not done with the pandemic,” said Emmanuel Macron, urging the 6 million French people still not vaccinated to do so. The loan guaranteed by the State will be extended until June 2022.
On pensions, the reform will be well postponed, confirmed Emmanuel Macron. The President of the Republic explained that “the conditions are not met to launch the pension reform“, mentioning” the health situation “and” the unanimous wish expressed by the trade unions to concentrate efforts on the need for concord. “Emmanuel Macron nevertheless called for launching a” democratic debate in 2022 “, before the presidential election, to “take clear decisions.” And he indicates that “to [s]In the eyes, it will be necessary to work longer, to harmonize the public and private system “.
On nuclear energy, Emmanuel Macron indicated that he intended to “continue to develop renewable energies” but also “to relaunch the construction of nuclear reactors”. All with the aim of being “up to our commitments at the time of the COP26” in other words to “achieve carbon neutrality in 2050” and “to guarantee the energy independence of France”. The development of “small modular reactors” had already been announced via the France 2030 investment plan.
On July 12, 2021, Emmanuel Macron once again addressed the French, in a particular setting. It is from the ephemeral Grand Palais, with the Eiffel Tower in the background, that the Head of State spoke. Here’s what to remember:
About the health pass. “From July 21, the health pass will be extended to places of leisure and culture. Concretely, for all our compatriots over 12 years old, it will take to access a show, an amusement park, a concert or a festival have been vaccinated or have a recent negative test “. “From the beginning of August, the health pass will apply in cafes, restaurants, shopping centers as well as in hospitals, retirement homes, medico-social establishments, but also on planes, trains and coaches for long journeys “. Only people who have been vaccinated or who can present a negative PCR test of less than 48 hours will be able to access these places.
About vaccination. “We are a Nation of science, of the Enlightenment. When science offers us the means to protect ourselves, we must use them with confidence in reason and in progress. We must aim for the vaccination of all French people.”
