Charlotte Baris: Sunday June 9, 2024, 9:02 p.m., Emmanuel Macron speaks at the end of the European elections, while Jordan Bardella’s list came well ahead, with more than 30% of the votes. And that the presidential camp is disavowed.
To everyone’s surprise, the President of the Republic calls early legislative elections. He then hopes to regain control. Especially since, for months, agreements in the Assembly with one or other of the oppositions have been impossible. After the shock, we must return to vote. The dates are therefore set: the French are called to the polls on June 30 and July 7. A lightning campaign, but above all under tension, where attacks on candidates are increasing.
The New Popular Front comes first, followed by the presidential party then the RN… But no one has an absolute majority. While this vote was supposed to restart the political machine, everything stalled and was put on pause. Macronism stumbles, but can it still get back up?
