This weekend is the World Cup premiere.
Then Emma Ribom will be one of the riders on the starting line.
Now the Swede is making a move before the World Cup – and opting out of teammate Ebba Andersson.
Emma Ribom impressed during the Swedish premiere in Gällivare this weekend. The 25-year-old came second in both the sprint, which Jonna Sundling won, and in 10 kilometer classic, there Ebba Andersson came first.
Ribom’s form statement
In Sunday’s race, ten kilometers free, it was a resounding victory when Moa Ilar came before both Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson. That race was over by Emma Ribom. But on Friday she is back in competition when the World Cup has its season premiere in Ruka in Finland.

Last season was a good one for Emma Ribom, although she most often ends up close behind the world champions Jonna Sundling and Ebba Andersson. But there were still three WC medals, and exactly one year ago Ribom took his first victory in the World Cup.
She delivered good news in the Swedish premiere, but the question is how Ribom stands compared to last year.
– I would say that I have taken a step forward and I got great answers here in Gällivare this weekend. I had a good feeling. At the same time, it is difficult to know how one stands compared to international opposition, she says herself about the form during a question and answer session with Expressen.
Diss Andersson
During the question and answer session, Ribom also had to answer a prejudice she encounters as a skier.
– I’ve been told that you shouldn’t eat sweets or chips or drink soft drinks. It is clear that I also go to the store and buy Saturday sweets sometimes!, admits the 25-year-old.

This season is championship free. Many riders will therefore invest heavily in the World Cup, and there are many candidates to win the overall World Cup. Some of them can be found in the Swedish national team. But Ebba Andersson is not one of them, believes Emma Ribom.
– I think we have strong candidates in the team. Jonna Sundling and Frida Karlsson are two. If you want to win the overall, you have to go fast in both the sprint and the distance, considering the points system. They are two all-round skiers!, she tells the evening newspaper.
