A mysterious injury has kept her out for more than two months.
Not only that the pre-season training went awry – she has had a hard time mentally.
– I’ve been so sickly tired, she says to Expressen.
WC in Slovenian Planica was Emma Riboms26, real breakthroughs. She left the championship with a gold, a silver and a bronze. After that, the Swedes got their eyes wide open for the Kalix girl. She became a name to reckon with.
“Been so insanely long-winded”
She had been looking forward to a new, exciting season. But at the beginning of July, she had an accident that basically ruined her entire summer of training. Ribom thought a couple of days of rest would be enough, but it took more than two months before she could stand on a pair of roller skis again.
– It has been so incredibly long-winded, it continued throughout the summer. It is a muscle around the ribs that has not cooperated, she tells Expressen.
During the summer, Emma Ribom has had to continue with alternative training methods. It has mostly been running, but also a little cross trainer and roller skating without poles.

– This has not exactly been a summer where it went as I wished, but it rarely does for me. And when you’re in the shit, it feels like this sort of thing only happens to you. But it’s not like that, she says.
Try to see it positively
Emma Ribom says that it was mentally tough to be forced to train around skiing, that it felt like she didn’t develop as she wanted. At the same time, she tries to think positively that the peak of form will only come later this year than in previous years. It could be something good.
– It was probably mentally the worst. I always have a clear plan for what I want to develop, zeroing in on specific sessions I really want to be able to complete. But then being forced to scrap the plan I had in my head… that has probably been the hardest of all. I’ve been so sick less. And very frustrated, she says.

Good for you, Emma. We understand that it was frustrating this summer not to be able to train as you wanted.
Hope you get better soon and feel strong when the season starts in November.
