In the Emirates, although some lotteries already exist, casinos are not yet allowed, as gambling is theoretically prohibited by Islamic law.
But the creation of this General Authority for the regulation of gambling could well change the situation. This will be responsible for setting up a regulatory framework to establish a ” efficient, safe and responsible gaming industry ” with ” strict guidelines “.
Also having the task of manage national licensing “, it will be led by the American Kevin Mullally, who notably carried out similar functions in Missouri, in the United States, indicated the official press agency WAM.
In recent years, rumors about the opening of casinos in the country have continued to swell. These have intensified in particular since January 2022, when the authorities of the emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah then announced the development of a gigantic complex by the large American group of casinos Wynn Resorts. The opening of this establishment is scheduled for 2027.
