Swedish Emil Persson wins the Vasaloppet 2023, the 99th in the series, after a powerful sprint on the race in Mora.
Persson gassed away the Norwegians Kasper Stadås, Johan Hoel, Petter Stakston and Andreas Nygård in an impressive and gas-hugging finish.
The victory also means that it is the first time in over ten years that a Swede has taken home the victory in the classic competition.
Persson’s winning time was 3:37:46.
– It was about time! It is so nice! It was fun skiing today. It was tough at the end but I felt I had a good day, he says to SVT immediately after the finish.
