During Idol’s Friday final, the third in a row, the theme was “Sweden’s best songs”.
After artists such as Marie Fredriksson, Cornelia Jakobs and Miriam Bryant were interpreted, it was clear that Emil Eriksson had to leave the competition.
– I have much more to give, but regardless, I am grateful, said Emil immediately after the announcement.
The rules for Friday’s final were simple – all Idol contestants had to sing a song that had at some point been awarded at the Grammy Awards, Rockbjörnen or P3 Gold.
Between all the Swedish hit songs, the competition was visited by the former Idol participant Hanna Ferm, who for the first time performed her interpretation of Håkan Hellström’s song “Valborg”, and the artists Petter and ADAAM who offered a mini medley from their careers.
Several of the contributions were praised by the Idol Jury, but when the floodgates closed there were still three participants hanging loose.
In the end, the verdict came down and Emil Eriksson, who performed Eva Dahlgren’s old earring “Vem tänder stjörnnarna”, was forced to accept the announcement that he has to leave the competition.
– It’s really sad that it’s coming to an end, but I’m proud of what I’ve done, said Emil.
– There won’t be any more on this stage, if you don’t come back at some point as a guest artist, answered host Pär Lernström.
