“We will actually start in May,” says general commander Cecile Kosterman of the police. She is responsible for all police deployment in the provinces of Utrecht, Flevoland and Gooij and Vechtstreek and will be found in the control room in the various districts for most of the night. When it is quiet in Amersfoort and restless in Utrecht, she responds to that. “Sometimes it is necessary to help from other areas and then I have to ensure that a safe New Year’s Eve can still take place.”
