Emergency services reduced after accidents in Christmas traffic: “Don’t call old accidents”

During Friday, the emergency services had to send resources several times to accidents that had already been attended to before.

– A colleague told us that, for example, we received 45 calls about a car that had been in a ditch for several hours where the driver had left the scene a long time ago, says duty officer Sebastian Levin.

He believes that when the emergency services have a high workload during heavy traffic days, it is easy to miss marking the cars after accidents. Levin urges road users to turn around or stop if possible before sounding the alarm.

– It’s a difficult trade-off, but if it’s a smaller road, for example, you can do it so that we don’t send fire trucks when we’re needed elsewhere, he says.
