Emergency services are overflowing Experts warned There is a serious

Emergency services are overflowing with applications for diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and high fever these days. While there is a serious increase in such cases, citizens who have not recovered from their illness for a long time and are anxious are rushing to hospitals. Emergency Service Specialist Prof. Dr. Ersin Aksay said, “We have been seeing an increase in diarrhea cases for the last month. More applications are being made to our hospitals. We have been faced with such an increase in the last month.”

“MOST VIRAL DISEASES”

Prof. Dr. Ersin Aksay, “Most of our patients’ complaints are diarrhea. In some patients; nausea, vomiting, high fever, widespread muscle and bone pain in patients with high fever, fatigue and weakness due to fluid loss in prolonged diarrhea occur. We encounter 20-30 cases a day in our hospital. These are actually related to viral diseases, they occur due to viral diseases. A small portion are bacterial, some are parasitic infections; but when we consider them on a patient basis, it is really difficult to understand which agent they are infected with without doing further examination, technical, just by looking at the history; but I can say that most of them are viral diseases.”

IF DIARRHEA LASTS MORE THAN 3-4 DAYS, YOU SHOULD APPLY TO THE HOSPITAL

Aksay, who stated that if the disease is prolonged, these people should definitely go to a hospital, said, “Acute renal failure due to fluid loss can occur in elderly people with systemic diseases, people with prolonged diarrhea, individuals receiving chemotherapy, diabetics, and individuals with kidney failure. These patient groups should definitely go to health institutions. Apart from this, cases where the diarrhea period is prolonged; in other words, we normally limit the diarrhea period to 2-3 days in viral diseases and if it lasts more than 3-4 days, if there is blood in the diarrhea, if they have fever, if their intake has decreased due to excessive nausea and vomiting, these patients should definitely be examined.”

Giving information about the causes of such disorders, Prof. Dr. Ersin Aksay continued as follows:

“These can happen to raw vegetables eaten from outside; in other words, to anyone who consumes salad. If any individual in the family is infected, other people can be infected. Therefore, what needs to be paid attention to right now is; fresh vegetables and fruits should not be consumed in food eaten from outside, especially in places where we are not sure of the water source, poultry food should be consumed after cooking it on time and cooked well. Hand hygiene is also very important in individuals with diarrhea. What needs to be paid attention to here is; patients should increase their fluid consumption, especially avoid fatty foods, and turn to easily digestible foods.” (İHA)
