Emergency exercises held at Sarnia Imperial and Arlanxeo sites

Imperial Oil and Arlanxeo issued notices that emergency response exercises were planned for Wednesday at their manufacturing sites in Sarnia.

Arlanxeo said its personnel were conducting an emergency test in the morning at the company’s butyl site involving emergency vehicles turning on their lights and sirens.

“This is only a drill and no cause for concern,” the company said in post to the BASES My Community Notification Network system.

Imperial Oil also said its Sarnia site was conducting a marine simulation beginning at about 8:30 am Wednesday.

“There will be noticeable activity, including boats and boom deployment on the St. Clair River in the area of the Imperial site,” company spokesperson Kristina Zimmer said in an email.

“Exercises like this are important in helping to support emergency response training in our region,” she said.
