A plane with medical equipment from the World Health Organization WHO has landed in El-Arish in Egypt for further distribution to Gaza, writes WHO director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on X, formerly Twitter.

“We are ready to deliver the equipment as soon as a humanitarian corridor is opened at the border crossing,” he writes.

El-Arish in the Sinai Peninsula in northern Egypt is close to the Rafah border crossing in the southern Gaza Strip.

Ghebreyesus also writes that the WHO continues to appeal to Israel to reconsider the decision to evacuate over one million Gazans. “It will mean a human tragedy,” he writes.
