Finally it was time.
A Swedish podium in the world cup on the women’s side!
Elvira Öberg came second in the sprint.
It has been a tough start to the season in the World Cup for our ladies in biathlon. In addition to a victory in the mixed relay for Hanna Öberg and Sebastian Samuelsson they have not been allowed to step on the podium even once so far.
Elvira’s success
Until now! During Friday, the sprint took place in Hochfilzen in Austria. Then took Elvira Öberg a long-awaited podium place. The 24-year-old missed a shot in the prone shooting, but was flawless in the standing. With fantastic skiing, Elvira was able to move into second place only five seconds behind first place, which had zero barriers.
– When I left the standing shooting, I just thought “yes, finally!”. 90%, I’m very satisfied and it feels like I’m on the right track. Regardless of the result, it’s good for the start of the hunt tomorrow, says Elvira Öberg in SVT’s broadcast after the sprint.

For older sister Hanna Öberg, the day went worse. A total of three bars (one in the prone shooting and two in the standing) is far too much in a sprint. Despite a stable ride time, Hanna drove into 15th place, and has dropped in the results list to 20th place.
– I’m not too happy with my competition today. Especially at a standstill, it feels very unnecessary to “waste” the two shots. I didn’t manage to stay focused through all the shots today, says Hanna in SVT.
Norwegian victory
First place went to the Norwegian Ingrid Landmark Dental violence, who started the season well and now moved up to second place in the overall World Cup. It is Tandrevold’s second World Cup victory in his career.
Anna Magnusson made a solid race with a barrier and drove into ninth place. Mona Brorsson missed twice and ends up outside the top 15. Linn Persson two misses kept her from making the top 25.

Last year’s winner of the IBU Cup, Tilda Johanssonhad flawless shooting and currently holds an impressive top 30 ranking. Sarah Andersson came up with a boom top 40.
– It was a tough race and the charging was not optimal, but I am still satisfied, says the 20-year-old.
Elvira’s success comes hours after Sebastian Samuelsson came third in the men’s sprint. Samuelsson now leads the World Cup on the men’s side.
