Elvira Öberg thinks she is faster than Frida Karlsson in a mile.
In SVT’s Kallprat, she opens up about a duel against the cross-country skier in the future.
– Absolutely, yes it is clear that it could have been a bit of fun, says the biathlete.
When the Piteå girl Elvira Öberg25, was going to choose high school, the choice finally fell on the biathlon high school in Sollefteå, the same school as older sister Hanna Öberg29, went on. She was active in four different sports and wasn’t really sure that biathlon was something for her, moreover, she got a place first as a reserve. In the end, it turned out to be a good choice. A certain one also went to the ski high school Frida Karlsson25. Elvira and Frida got to know each other there under the school side.
Öberg believes she can challenge Karlsson
When Elvira recently guested on SVT’s winter sports talk show Kallprat with Johan Kücükaslan she was asked if she thought she could give her friend a match in the ski track. It is relevant that Kücükaslan asked Frida the question last season and that the cross-country star was sure that she herself would win. When the sports journalist read out the statement “Frida Karlsson had had to look up in the 10 kilometer freestyle”, the biathlete answered briefly:
– Yes.

Kücükaslan says that he has seen Elvira compete a lot and that he experiences her as a very fast skater. He says she is an “extremely good skier”.
– Did it bother you that she was so quick to answer?, he asks in the program.
– No, it didn’t bother me very much. Frida and I went to school together. I know what she’s like and she knows what I’m like, so I don’t. But I also know that I am good at skiing, she says.
Elvira Öberg opens up for a duel
When they are still on the subject, the presenter takes the opportunity to ask Elvira straight out if she would be interested in standing next to Frida and having a duel, woman against woman. “Had it ever been fun to be pitted against each other in some kind of stunt competition?”, he asks her.
– Absolutely, yes it is clear that it could have been a bit of fun. But the thing is, it will never happen on equal terms. It is a different sport than what I train and compete in. It is a completely different thing to ride 5 or 10 kilometers straight up and down a five kilometer course than to ride with a gun on your back and shoot in between. They are really two completely different things.

This would have been so cool to witness! Hope to see such a duel sometime in the future. Who do you think would have won? Had Elvira had a chance against Frida? Please write a comment!
