Björn Ferry directed a very tough outing against the Swedish biathletes.
Now Elvira Öberg has answered in the very best way.
Talk about the good Ferry having to eat his words.
A Swede has not won the overall Biathlon World Cup since Helena Ekholms glansdagar 2009. It takes an enormous amount to succeed in that feat and already three weeks ago the SVT expert gave Bjorn Ferry his stone-hard judgment.
Elvira Öberg’s answer
Then he came out with a most unexpected statement that no Swede will win the overall World Cup this season either. Ferry said that train had already left, before the biathlon season even started.
Elvira Öbergwho finished second overall in the 2021/22 World Cup, strongly disagrees with that statement.
– It is early. We also know that Tiril (Eckhoff) has won the overall World Cup after barely taking a single point here in Kontiolax. I wouldn’t say that anything has been run so early, she tells Expressen after this weekend’s competitions in Finland.
– However, I make it much easier for myself if you are involved from the start. I think it will be able to live quite a long time.

Little sister Öberg responded in the very best way with a dream start to the new season. After the first three individual competitions at the World Cup, she leads the overall with 60 points ahead of the runner-up and gets to compete in the yellow vest in front.
Ferry regrets it
Talk about silencing the doubters immediately.
– I have never been worried about that. This is my season, I have never been a better biathlete than now. This is my season, says Elvira in the interview.
The Swedish national team coach John Luke also enjoys being able to refute Björn Ferry with a real bang start to the World Cup season.
– He can say what he wants. I don’t really care about that, we work very hard here all year, day by day. We were already written off after the distance. You get to see the overall picture, the overall World Cup is far away right now. WE have seven out of seven podium places, he says to the evening newspaper.
– Maybe he (Björn) had a spy during the summer and thought we had done a bad job.

Ferry has now been forced to change his opinion on the overall World Cup and is backtracking from his tough outing.
– After Idre, a lot has happened, (Lisa) Vittozzi is out with a backache, (Ingrid) Tandrevold has a heart defect and (Julia) Simon got an old man, he says in a statement.
– Otherwise I thought that Simon, (Lou) Jeanmonnot, (Justine) Braisaz-Bouchet, Vittozzi and Tandrevold had better chances to win the overall. But right now it feels like there’s only Jeanmonnot left.
