The Biathlon World Cup was not at all what Elvira Öberg had hoped for.
But now she strikes back with an unexpected detail about herself.

Expectations were high on Elvira Öberg who came to the Biathlon World Cup in Nove Mesto as one of the big favourites. But the championship was not nearly as successful as many had thought, including herself.

It started in the best way with WC bronze already in the opening race when Sweden came third in the mixed relay. But then little sister Öberg failed to reach the podium in all individual races.

It took a whole week before Elvira got to step on the WC podium again and then it was during the women’s relay, where Sweden salvaged a WC silver. Now she opens up after the big disappointment in Nove Mesto.
– The feelings from the WC are really both. I am very happy about the relay medals we won. And that last relay day where we took silver and the boys took gold was truly a memory for life. I will live with those feelings for a long time, says Öberg to langd.se and hits back at all critics with an unexpected and very interesting detail.
– Then it is clear that I had hoped for more individually, but at the same time I am doing my best WC in terms of placement. But I didn’t get all the pieces together the way you have to be to succeed in biathlon. But I am satisfied with my efforts in the sprint and the pursuit start (ninth and eight), where I got the best out of what I had on those days.
Elvira now reveals
Last year’s Biathlon World Cup was ruined by Elvira Öberg due to illness and she should certainly feel proud to have had the best World Cup in her career. Now it’s time to end the season in the best possible way in the World Cup.
– It’s a balancing act to find the right thing after a championship. It is important to find the right load when the body both needs to rest after the championship and at the same time you want to be prepared for what lies ahead. It is important to be ready both physically and mentally, she says in the interview and reveals her goal.
– I know that I usually struggle at the end of the season. But I want to be able to maintain the good shooting I had during large parts of the WC. Then I hope to achieve some success in the remaining competitions. And I’m really looking forward to going to Canada and the US and competing.

But already on Monday evening it is time for biathlon again. When Elvira Öberg puts on the number tag for the first time after the WC and in pairs with Martin Ponsiluoma are they going to compete in the very first edition of the “Skishooting competition” at Stockholm’s stadium.
– It’s the first time I run a competition like this, and I’m really looking forward to it. It will be awesome to compete in front of the big crowd at the Stadium. The skiing will be very flat, so it will be challenging with the shooting, says Öberg to the ski site.
