The biathlon season is fast approaching.
Then Elvira Öberg shows great form.
The Swede dominated in a secret test competition this weekend.
Hanna Öberg had long been the big star in Swedish biathlon. She also delivered big in major championships, and before last season the expectations for her were high. But the big exclamation point of the season was instead little sister Elvira Öberg.
Success in the competition
During the summer, Elvira Öberg had developed her riding times somewhat enormously, and once the season started, she rode so fast that many even wanted to see her run sprint competitions for the national cross-country team. Elvira Öberg had an absolutely fantastic season, with Olympic medals and a second place in the overall World Cup.
Elvira Öberg has talked during the autumn that the big goal of the season is to finish first there at the end of the season, and it is a goal that feels increasingly reasonable, given her rising form in recent seasons. And there certainly doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with her form ahead of the new season either. Within the national biathlon team, they had a “secret” test competition this weekend, in which all national team skiers participated. No results lists are available, but coach Johannes Lukas reveals some details anyway.

“Very satisfied”
To Swedish biathlon’s Instagram, the coach reveals the winners for both the men and women – and that the times had gone far in contexts outside of the Swedish national team as well.
– Elvira Öberg and Jesper Nelin. We are generally very satisfied. The shooting was good and there was a high level of performance. These results would go a long way in the World Cup, says Johannes Lukas.
As early as this weekend, the Swedish premiere awaits at Idre Fjäll, which usually gives a good indication of the skiers’ form. The first World Cup competition, in Kontiolahti, begins on November 29. In February, from 9 to 19, it’s time for the WC in Oberhof.
