Elvira Öberg finished last year in an impressive second place in the overall biathlon world cup.
With success also comes expectations – and Öberg now reveals that she feels the pressure on her shoulders.
But at the same time, she will also have extra support during the season which will help her on the trot.
The biathlon season has since started Martin Ponsiluoma salvaged a Swedish victory in Kontiolahti on Tuesday. On Wednesday, it’s the ladies’ turn when it’s time for distance races. But before and during the season, she can count on extra support, and that from her boyfriend Axel Frost. Even though he is “only” involved remotely, Öberg feels the positive support.
– It’s nice to have someone at home that you can talk to. And it’s good that he’s a little out of this world too, when you’re in this biathlon bubble yourself. It can be nice to hear about a normal working day, there is a life outside of this too, she says.

“Want to be involved from the start”
Before the premiere, Öberg also reveals that she has improved her lying shooting.

And – of course – the 23-year-old hopes for a premiere in the style of Martin Ponsiluomas.
– I’m usually strong at the beginning of the season, and it’s clear that I want to be there from the start now too. Then the season is not decided here and now, really not. And that’s nice in a way. It’s a long season and it’s important to be strong throughout. One must not place too much importance on individual achievements either.
