Elvira and Hanna Öberg reveal their big investment – the sisters are already acting now: “Very interesting”

They are two of the world’s best biathletes.
But Elvira and Hanna Öberg are far from satisfied.
Now they are revealing an unexpected investment – for several years of prevention.
– We want as much good experience as possible, says Hanna Öberg to SVT.

After all, Hanna Öberg is only 27 years old, but a real veteran in the context at this point. Little sister Elvira is four years younger, and had a huge breakthrough last winter. Today, the two sisters belong to the absolute world elite in biathlon, and it is common for both to compete for podium places during a World Cup weekend.

Acknowledge the bet

Elvira Öberg is perhaps the one who has reaped the most success in recent winters, but during this year’s WC it was Hanna Öberg who went home with the most medals. Ahead of the new season, the hopes for the Swedish stars are sky high, and despite the fact that they both belong to the absolute world elite, they are far from satisfied.

Already now, the sisters have begun a serious investment before one of the great highlights of their careers – namely the Olympics in 2026. It will be decided in Antholz, Italy, at an altitude of approximately 1,600 meters. Already during this summer, the Öberg sisters have been to double high-altitude camps, and it is with the Winter Olympics, almost three years away, in focus. Admittedly, they hope that it will produce results already this winter, but they are still clear about why they choose to make the investment.

The big challenge

For Hanna Öberg, it was a given choice to start the investment so early.

– We want to have as much good experience as possible, both from training and competition at high altitude in the lead up to the Olympics. This particular season will also be very interesting considering that, because we have more World Cup competitions at high altitude than we usually have, says Hanna Öberg to SVT.

Even Elvira Öberg admits that she has had problems at high altitude before, and that it is therefore necessary.

– You don’t just notice during training, you are affected by the altitude at all hours of the day. But I also think that it goes better and better each time we are up in altitude. It’s a learning process, which is why it’s so important that we get these blocks in.
