Is The Lord Of The Rings Series Giving Elrond A New Spin? Tolkien’s template speaks for it
Perhaps you are one of the Lord of the Rings hardcore fans who have long since dug through all of JRR Tolkien’s literary works multiple times and therefore know everything about Elrond without exception. But if you see the elves above all as Arwen’s father, Rivendell Innkeeper and Aragorn Defiant from the three Lord of the Rings films or Gandalf’s allies from the Hobbit trilogy, you can learn something new here. We have selected for you the five most amazing facts about Elrond from Tolkien’s books. Hugo Weaving embodied him first, in Amazon’s series Robert Aramayo takes over the part.
1. Lord of the Rings Knowledge: Elrond had human and elvish ancestry
Anyone who has always thought of Elrond as a model elf might be surprised to hear that the pointy ear actually a half-elf was. That is to say, his mother Elwing and father Earendil each had a mortal parent and an Elvish parent (Elwing: Beren & Luthién; Earendil: Tuor & Idril). However, Elrond’s choice to live as an Elf makes him a full member of his people in the eyes of the Elves.

2. Lord of the Rings Lore: Elrond had a twin brother
When Elrond was born around the year 532 of the First Age of Middle-earth, he was not alone. Beside him saw his brother Elros the light of the world: his twin. As half-elves, however, the two had to choose sides after a verdict (of the Vala Manwë). And while Elrond chose immortality, Elros chose to become human, which is why his overly long life eventually ended.
But before that, Elros became the first king and progenitor of the people of the island kingdom of Númenor. From these in turn descended Isildur. So it could be argued that Aragorn is very distantly related to Elrond (and Arwen).

3. Lord of the Rings Lore: Galadriel is Elrond’s mother-in-law
Although Elrond is clearly Arwen’s father, there is never a word about his in the Lord of the Rings films Elven wife lost. But she existed: Celebrian was the daughter of Galadriel and Celeborn, making Lady Lothlórien Elrond’s mother-in-law. Celebrían was ambushed, kidnapped and tortured by a group of orcs on the Red Horn Pass in 2509 in the Third Age.
Elrond’s wife is rarely mentioned in the Lord of the Rings works because she sailed west to the Undying lands before the Fellowship of the Ring. For after her rescue and healing, she was never the same and eventually left Middle-earth behind. Before that, though, we might well catch a glimpse of them in Amazon’s The Rings of Power narrative, with its streamlined timeline. Arwen, on the other hand, is only born in the Third Age and will therefore probably stay away from the fantasy series.

4. Lord of the Rings Lore: Elrond wears a ring of power
As its title suggests, Amazon’s series will revolve around The Rings of Power. Not just that a strong finger jewelry that made Sauron almost invincible, but also around everyone else. In addition to the 9 human and 7 dwarf rings, there were also 3 elf rings. And one of these wore Elrond in Frodo’s time: Vilya, the Ring of Air.
Elrond wasn’t a Ring-bearer to begin with, though. Before that, the ring belonged to Vilya dem Elf King Gil-galadwho died in the Battle of the Last Alliance (which the 5 Lord of the Rings squadrons will probably lead to) and handed over the powerful tool to his friend beforehand.

5. Lord of the Rings Knowledge: Elrond had three children in total
Among the numerous changes between Lord of the Rings books and films is that Peter Jackson us Elrond’s sons withheld:
Elrohir and Elladan. The two were identical twins. Arwen’s brothers in the Lord of the Rings novel even fight closely alongside Aragorn in the last two major battles, who incidentally was raised by Elrond in Rivendell as a sort of adoptive son. So all of Elrond’s children had a close connection to the future King of Gondor. For the series, on the other hand, the Elbe brothers are too young to appear.
