In the past, Musk introduced the brain chip that his company Neuralink has been working on for years and said that this technology can solve various neurological problems and spinal injuries, from memory loss to depression and visual impairment.

Musk stated in February that Neuralink could start implanting the brain chip in humans by the end of 2021. However, there seems to have been a delay in the plans.

Elon Musk said at The Wall Street Journal CEO Council Summit that he hopes his company, Neuralink, will start implanting brain chips in humans by 2022.
Musk also stated that Neuralink works well in monkeys, they have actually done a lot of testing, they confirm that it is very safe and reliable, and that the Neuralink device can be safely removed.
Musk also said that Neuralink’s standards for device placement are much higher than those required by the FDA.

NOT THE ONLY COMPANY
Neuralink isn’t the only company developing brain-computer interface technology. A 20-person biotech firm called Synchron also received FDA approval in July to begin human testing.
