Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter has sparked a lot of discussion about the future of the platform. Even the US government got involved in the matter, saying they were “concerned about the power the major social media platforms have”.
Musk’s acquisition of Twitter with $44 billion caused his tweets to come up again on this platform.
Musk, who joined the platform in 2009, got into trouble with his posts and faced multiple lawsuits.
We reviewed Twitter’s new owner’s history on the platform.
CAVE OPERATION IN THAILAND
Elon Musk was sued in 2019 for using the phrase “pedophile dude” about cave diver Vernon Unsworth.
Musk later deleted this tweet.
Unsworth had caught the world’s attention for her role in rescuing 12 teenagers trapped in a cave in Thailand.
Musk also wanted to donate a mini-sub to aid the operation.
But when Unsworth rejected the offer, calling it a “public relations activity”, the two got into a duel of words.
Unsworth filed a $190 million defamation lawsuit in Los Angeles after Musk’s post, but lost the case.
After the verdict, Unsworth’s lawyer, Lin Wood, said: “This verdict means that you can bring the charges you want to whoever you want and hold them accountable.”
COVID-19 SHARES
After the Covid-19 outbreak was classified as a pandemic in March 2020, Elon Musk criticized measures such as curfews and said they were “stupid”.
In a post in June 2020, he questioned how people who entered the statistics as death from coronavirus were classified.
He criticized the necessity of the vaccine even though he had been vaccinated, and during the protests of Canadian truck drivers, he compared Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Adolf Hitler, and drew the reaction of the Jews.
DUEL INVITATION TO PUTIN
Although many celebrities reacted to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Elon Musk’s sharing was one of the most extraordinary reactions.
Musk challenged Vladimir Putin to a duel on his Twitter account on March 14:
“I invite Vladimir Putin to one-on-one combat. Bet Ukraine.”
Later, he made another post by tagging Putin’s official account.
Putin, who has a black belt in judo, has not yet responded.
US PRESIDENT HIMs BIDEN
One of the biggest shares in Elon Musk’s wealth belongs to electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla.
In January, Musk was disturbed by the fact that US President Joe Biden did not mention Tesla while talking about electric vehicle production.
“Biden is a wet sock puppet in human form,” he tweeted on January 27.
TESLA DROP SHARES WITH A TWEET
Elon Musk had multiple problems with investors due to his posts about Tesla on Twitter, causing the company to lose value.
Tesla shares tumbled close to 5 percent in November, when a Twitter poll asked the public whether to sell their stake in the company and received a 58 percent sell off response.
In May 2020, he wrote that the value of Tesla shares was very high, and after the great turmoil in the stock market, the company lost $ 14 billion in value.
LAST POST: COCA-COLA JOKE
Elon Musk’s latest controversial post came after he bought the company.
In his April 28 tweet, he joked that his next goal was to take Coca-Cola and add cocaine to it.
Invented by US pharmacist John Pemberton in 1885, the drink originally contained coca leaf extract.
Cocaine was legal at that time and was often used in drugs.
In 1929, this substance was removed from Coca-Cola.
While some of Musk’s 87.4 million followers liked this post, some did not find it correct to talk about drugs.
This isn’t the first time Musk has been criticized for drugs.
He smoked marijuana in a video interview with Joe Rogan, a podcaster, in 2018.
Although marijuana is legal in the state of California, where the recording was made, some criticized Musk, saying it created a bad image.
