Billionaire Elon Musk has promised to raffle $1 million among Pennsylvania voters every day until the election.
Voters who sign Musk’s petition to protect the First and Second Amendments to the US Constitution can enter the lottery.
Musk announced his intentions for the Republican candidate in Pennsylvania Donald Trump in a supportive election event, reports The Hill.
Musk’s appeal concerns two key sections of the US Constitution. The First Amendment protects civil liberties such as freedom of speech. Another guarantees US citizens the right to bear and own arms, writes The New York Times.
The petition has been published on the America PAC website founded by Musk. America PAC is a political committee supporting Trump’s presidential campaign.
Its goal is to get at least one million people to register as voters in the Libra states.
Arizona, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, among others, are considered swing states that could decide the entire outcome of the presidential election.
NBC’s according to Musk has previously promised money to residents of the Libra state who have registered as voters.
In the past, however, the amount has been significantly lower, around $47 for signing the petition.
For voters in Pennsylvania, Musk has previously promised a reward of $100.
Musk is too promised to hold a series of open lectures in Pennsylvania. The public does not have to pay for the lectures, but participation requires signing Musk’s petition.
According to The New York Times, federal law prohibits paying to register to vote. However, the law does not prohibit paying a reward to people who sign the petition.
NYT estimates that the Trump campaign is trying to persuade the signatories to vote for Trump in the election.
Bloomberg’s according to Musk is currently one of the most important financiers of Trump’s election campaign. Musk has donated more than $75 million to America PAC, which supports Trump.
The US presidential election will be held on November 5.
