Metaverse may usher in a new era in the digital world. In fact, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates recently announced that he predicts most employees will hold their virtual meetings on the metaverse in the next two or three years. But Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, one of the first names that come to mind when we think of a new technology, does not seem to like either the metaverse or Web3.
METAVERSE EXPLANATION FROM ELON MUSK
As The Verge reports, Elon Musk said in a recent interview that he doesn’t see any compelling use cases for the VR-focused metaverse.
“I DO NOT UNDERSTAND YOU”
Musk described Web3 (Web 3.0) as the new era of the internet, built around blockchain and cryptocurrencies, as more marketing than reality, adding, “I don’t understand.” Musk also said he may be “too old” to understand these new technologies.
Referring to the VR headsets required for the metaverse, the famous name said, “I can’t see anyone who connects a screen to the whole day and never wants to leave.”
