Elon Musk closes indigenous offices: “Must assume the worst”

As the leader of the new department Dogge, Elon Musk will greatly reduce state spending in the United States.

Criticism has already come to several directions for the savings on USAID – which is expected to lead to several diseases in the world taking off as aid projects closing down.

All federal offices look to be closed

Now also comes criticism from indigenous peoples in the United States. More than a quarter of Bureau of Indian Affai’s office, which provides basic services to the indigenous population, should be shut down. The lease agreement for all federal offices is terminated.

The offices are responsible for maintaining the United States its obligations to the indigenous peoples. It is through those that indigenous representatives are consulted on issues where the United States has signed an agreement to respect the will of the indigenous peoples.

Concerns are great for what is happening now when the offices may not be left anymore.

“It’s a destabilizing act,” says Mark Macarro, president of the National Congress of American Indian.

“An uninitiated group of people”

According to him, this business costs less than 0.25 percent of the US total federal budget. At the same time, it is the great guarantor that the rights of indigenous peoples are respected.

– What is frustrating is that we know that Doge, who is behind this, could not be a more uninitiated group of people. They have to learn and it very quickly, he says.
