Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi made a statement on the issue on the X social media platform.
“IT CANNOT BE OPERATED IN ISRAEL WITHOUT THE APPROVAL OF THE MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS, THIS INCLUDES THE GAZA STRIP”
Karhi said in the statement, “Elon Musk, I congratulate you on reaching an important preliminary agreement with our Ministry of Communications. As a result, the Starlink satellite internet system cannot be operated in Israel without the approval of the Ministry of Communications. This includes the Gaza Strip.” he said.
Minister Karhi pointed out in his post that “this understanding is of vital importance when waging a war against Hamas.”
Musk has not yet made a statement on the issue.
Israel announced on October 18 that they started negotiations with SpaceX, a company owned by Elon Musk, for the use of the satellite internet system Starlink.
ELON MUSK ANNOUNCED THAT HE WOULD PROVIDE SATELLITE CONNECTION SUPPORT TO GAZA
After Israel completely cut off landline, mobile phone and internet communication services in the blockaded Gaza Strip, hundreds of users on the X social media platform demanded that the Starlink satellite system be put into service for humanitarian aid coordination.
Thereupon, Musk announced in his statement from X on October 28 that the Starlink satellite internet system company he owns would provide connection services to well-known international aid organizations in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi reacted to the attempt of Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and SpaceX companies, to provide internet to international aid organizations in the Gaza Strip and announced that they would fight the attempt to provide internet in Gaza. (AA)
