From Miss France 2001 to TV host for the M6 group channels, Elodie Gossuin has a particularly busy career. Especially since the French personality has just added a new line to her CV: muse of a fashion brand. The star reveals her fashion advice and her impressions of her new role as a committed ambassador.
Former Miss France and Miss Europe 2001 and today TV presenter, Elodie Gossuin is the face of the Octore Rose 2023 campaign for Tissaia, the chain’s ready-to-wear brand E.Leclerc. It was on this occasion that the Journal des Femmes met this personality particularly appreciated by the French.
Journal des Femmes: Tell us about the genesis of this partnership with Tissaia…
Elodie Gossuin: During telephone exchanges, the brand’s teams told me of their desire to continue their commitment alongside the League against Cancer with a campaign focused on Pink October. The idea was not just to educate customers, but also to create a capsule collection whose profits would be donated to the League Against Cancer. [Tout au long du mois d’octobre 2023, pour chaque achat d’un soutien-gorge issu de la collection capsule, E.Leclerc reversera 2,50 euros à l’association, ndlr] What was also important for me was to embody and talk about values that resemble me, that resemble my life and our daily life with my children. I have known Tissaia for a very long time, because I am a Leclerc customer and I thought it was great to be able to both act for the League against cancer while promoting super lingerie accessible for all women.
Why did you agree to represent this brand?
Inevitably, when I said yes, I had a particular thought for the women in my life, many of whom have unfortunately undergone ablations, those who are in the process of being confronted with this cancer and who are going through roller coasters. I am very happy with the result.
What is your favorite piece in the Pink October collection?
The terracotta set, because I love its colorI love his comfort. I almost became anti underwire and I like the second skin effects.
What is your relationship to fashion? Has it evolved since your coronation in 2001?
Significantly, yes. Basically, I had the feeling of wearing a uniform, of being a miss France so to be in costume, with the pretty dress, the pretty suit, to be very dressed up all the time. Over time, I learned to dress thinking about me, that is to say, what I want to wear. The essentialit’s not wanting to fit into a norm at all costs, it’s managing to feel like yourself in your clothes.
How would you describe your style?
I have several styles depending on my mood. It is true that naturally, I am rather in jeans and sweatshirt. I share pairs of sneakers with my daughter, because we are the same shoe size. And I always enjoy putting on a pretty Evening dress when appropriate.
What are your wardrobe essentials?
Everyone always answers little black dressbut I think it’s essential to also have its fetish jeans. I have lots of old Tees which I care about because I feel good in it. In the same way, I became addicted to funny socks. The shoes too, I’m a little addicted, I have a nice collection but now, rather without heels. And the stitches. I have a real passion for knits.
What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever been given?
I received a lot from Genevieve de Fontenay [présidente du Comité Miss France de 1981 à 2009, ndlr], a true figure of chic. She finds that to respect and be worthy of the Miss France scarf, you have to look good in all circumstances. For me, this elegance goes through a red lipstick, a beautiful blouse, pumps…
Who is your fashion icon?
There have been many over the years, and it is changing! Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy…. And then it’s true that today, I admire models who don’t look like me, but rather women who dare what I would never have dared to do: Lady Gaga, Rihanna. They have crazy courage, they are committed…
Summer is comming ! What major trends have you spotted this season? What pieces will you slip into your suitcase this vacation?
What I really like is the inspiration Bohemia. Very ample cuts, very comfortable, very very long dresses. I love this style I find feminine and cool, comfortable to wear with a little mind romantic. For the summer, the little 60’s dresses, with a small belt, buttoned in a modern material. Otherwise I spend my life in flip flops. If I could live in flip flops, I would live in flip flops. My piece is flip flops!
What are your eco-responsible fashion reflexes?
For me, it’s giving. We donate all the children’s clothes. My 15 year old teenagers give to their 9 year old brother and sister. Together we made boxes for theUkrainewe also give schoolbags to Restos of the Heart… I am not looking to resell. I have this chance to say to myself:Might as well give and let it serve“. It’s satisfying to offer a second life clothes and to tell yourself that you can help others. I also pay more attention to materials, especially for children, for example I prefer T-shirts with really organic cotton. Of course, you will never see me wearing fur. I am very careful.
You are a mother of 4 children, do you try to pass on your taste for fashion to them or do you give free rein to their imagination?
I leave them to be really free. I don’t want them to feel like there’s a fashion manual. Besides, they don’t have the same style as me at all. My daughter is really ultra ultra sporty, so very sportswear and then at 15 and in high school, sneakers are popular. And my son too, it’s this style that he likes. They still come to see me often to ask me for advice. But at the same time they make fun of other people’s eyes. And that is great!
