A high jumper preparing for the Paris Olympics Ella Junnila compared to his summer level, he had a weak result of 183 in the altitude race in Heilbronn, Germany.

– It wasn’t a good result, but it’s okay, Junnila’s coach Tuomas Sallinen commented from the venue to the Finnish Sports Federation.

A temporary high jump site had been built in the town square, where the men will continue the competition tomorrow, Sunday.

– The trampoline just surprised me. The pacing track looked good, but Ella had a surprisingly hard time finding pace on it. The platform had uneven and soft spots that hindered the balance and rhythm of the pace. Ella has rarely jumped well on these platforms.

The result was enough for seventh place. The top two were from Australia Eleanor Patterson and British Morgan Lakewhich exceeded 195.

A month ago, Junnila jumped at the Paavo Nurme Games with new SE readings of 197. A little earlier, she was Fifth at the European Championships in Rome with a result of 193.

A record for Ojala

Barely qualified for the Olympic team in Paris Aleksi Ojala won the open Häme district championship in Lempäälä with his 5,000 meter walking record and the season’s domestic best time of 19:33.92. The result also ranks sixth in Finland’s all-time statistics.

Espoo’s Tapioen Enni Nurmi improved the domestic top time of the season. Nurmi won the women’s 5,000 meter walk with a time of 22:23.18.

Pulli remained at 741

Kristian Pulli finished fourth in the long jump competition in Nove Mesto with a result of 741. The competition was held against a slight headwind, and Pulli also got results of 733 and 732.

The competition was won by Jamaica Shawn-D Thompson with a score of 797, and his second best jump was a 791.

Thompson’s record is 802. At the end of June, at the Olympic qualifiers in Jamaica, he stretched no less than 830, but the competition jury rejected the result the next day.
