(Finance) – Protecting and enhancing valuable trees, including rowan, wild service tree, oak, cherry and field maple, sporadically present in the areas of the Forest of Città della Pieve – Piegaro. This is the goal of “Elite Plants” project for sustainable forest management in Umbria, initiated by TIM And Climate Network through innovative forestry tools and techniques.
The initiative is part of a broader TIM strategy to actively contribute to the protection of national forests, biodiversity and the fight against climate change. The project was also promoted in collaboration with PEFC extension in the context ofat Campagna Foresta Italia by Rete Climacreated with the moral patronage of Ministry of Ecological Transition and of the mministry of agricultural, food and forestry policies.
In particular, the project foresees a punctual activity of GPS mapping of valuable plants and the adoption of forest management techniques aimed at promoting the growth, photosynthetic capacity and vitality of trees. Also, a thematic itinerary for the public through rest areas and notice boards to tell the biodiversity of the species present in the forest.
