Mikael Ymer made an attention-grabbing outing against Swedish tennis icons.
Now brother Elias, also a tennis star, breaks the silence.
– The media focuses on completely the wrong things, he says.
Mikael Ymer has, to say the least, been in the center of events lately. He reached the third round of Wimbledon after a super performance in the second round, defeating a top 10 player for the first time in his career.
The brother breaks the silence
But the Swedish tennis public will not get to see him play at home this summer. Ymer snubbed the Nordea Open, and has subsequently come up with several outbursts about both the competition leadership with Christer Hult in the lead, but also against tennis icons Kent Carlsson and Mats Wilander, who criticized Ymer for his statements.
– Kent is a play. He is a pawn on a chessboard who wants to satisfy Christer Hult and his team, Ymer has said, among other things.
One who does play in the Nordea Open, however, is Mikael’s brother Elias Ymer. He enters the tournament on Tuesday, against Leo Borg, and now breaks his silence on his brother’s statements.
– Mikael has gone from place 100 to 50 in a season that I don’t think the media highlights anything, they focus on completely wrong things. It’s incredibly well done, I have a lot of respect for him. I am happy for him, says Elias Ymer to Expressen.

“Rewrite it instead”
Elias Ymer simply believes that the media should focus more positively on what Mikael actually does on the tennis court, and for Swedish tennis.
– Climbing fifty places in one season is really good and the media should write more about it instead. He has had an absolutely fantastic year and gives me tips all the time and will certainly give me more tips before my match against Leo (Borg), says Ymer.
Elias Ymer is himself ranked 166th in the world, while Leo Borg is ranked 437th.
– Of course I’m the favorite, but I need to do my things right to win. I have had very good training weeks and am in a good position, says Elias Ymer.
